Looking ahead… with Jesus!

Posted on March 28, 2020March 27, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Deuteronomy.1-3

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross this Jordan.” (Deuteronomy 3:27)
Though Moses has been a part of their story, he will not enter this next chapter.
He gets to see it, but he does not get to experience it.
In some way, we’re all like Moses; we don’t see all of God’s unfolding plan.
Faith is seeing God’s promise from a distance, a blend of already and not yet.
“These people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance…” (Hebrews 11:13)
Jesus invites up the mountain with Him to see a glimpse of His glory (Mark 9:2-8)
We don’t see everything yet, but we see Jesus (Hebrews 2:8-9), and we have hope.
Martin Luther King Jr. climbed this ‘mountaintop’, and saw racial harmony.
Is there something you are not seeing yet, something God has promised?
Spend time with Jesus on the mountaintop and look with Him into the distance.
When we are with Him, we get a glimpse of what will be, for us and for all!
He helps us look beyond this COVID-19 struggle, to see a better day!
Yes, its not nice to NOT experience it NOW, but in due time we WILL!
PRAYER
Lord, I know that You are alive, and that in the end You will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see God with my own eyes — I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25-27)

I appreciate autobiographies – I appreciate Moses writing and giving account of key events in the beginning of Israel as a nation. I appreciate the Gospel writers as they shared some of the many things that Jesus did. I am blessed that these records are passed on to us today. I see God carrying out his promises to Israel and to mankind through the Messiah who has come and saved us! Thank you. I see too that God remains true to his judgement – yet allows Moses a ‘view’ – kind of as a reward for his faithfulness in leading God’s people. I too have a view – can look back and see where God has taken me – but also gives me the images of what will be!

think about it!

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
