PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 27
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord.” (Psalm 27:13)
I have long had a deep sense that there is a God, and that Jesus is right.
God and Jesus have been compelling to my soul for many years.
Not in religion or church… these have been poor examples of God and Jesus.
And certainly not because I am so strong or good in myself; I am also weak.
Somehow this deep confidence in Jesus has kept me going through all the years.
I admire David’s confidence… he remains confident even in the middle of war.
“Though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.” (Psalm 27:3)
We are in the middle of a different kind of war, with COVID-19.
For me and for many others, this is a test of confidence.
Can I say this David that I am confident of the Lord’s goodness through this war?
So far, yes… but how will I be three months from now!?
I suspect that if things go longer and get harder, my confidence will weaken.
Maybe I need to start praying this now, so that when it gets harder, I am stronger!
“Though (COVID-19) break out against me, even then I will be confident.” (Psalm 27:3)
PRAYER
Lord, up until now my confidence has been strong. But now it is being tested. Grant me the strength to keep expressing my confidence in You as the days, and weeks, and months, and… until the very end!
Security – it is what we strive for. – but really where is my security? Will my health hold out so that I am able to earn money and support myself? In my retirement, will my RRSPs/savings and pension meet my needs? Do I put my security in my country and its social security? Will my medical care be able to address my needs? These are aspects but not the source – like David – I’ve learned that my real security is in the Lord and in His presence. Lord I need you to be my constant companion as I navigate my days – especially in the face of today’s circumstances!
Today is the Lord’s day, but then every day is the Lord’s day. And as I live this day in His presence I need to dress myself in His armour to be
GodStrong
and make my arm
ArmStrong
to do His will each day in His power.
He will equip me and lead me by His Spirit.
Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.
