Rise up and stand firm!

Posted on February 16, 2020February 15, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 20

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed.” (Psalm 20:6)
To be anointed is to be chosen by God for a purpose (like a king or priest).
David is expressing his confidence that God put him there, God will help him.
Jesus was God’s promised anointed one (anointed = messiah in Hebrew, christ in Greek).
Not just with the symbol of oil, but with the Spirit of God.
Jesus did not trust in numbers or strength or armies or money… but in God.
But look at His life: from rejection to crucifixion to death.
It seems odd for people to make a condemned convict their ‘anointed hero’.
But in Jesus we know that the God gives victory to His anointed.
Yes Jesus died, but He also was raised up, and defeated Satan, sin,and death.
As Jesus followers, we are ‘anointed’ by the Spirit too, we are here for a purpose!
This helps us to trust God too, even when under attack, and to keep moving forward.
As bad a life gets, we know that God has and will set us free, and restore us.
This trust keeps us going, when everything seems to be working against us.
Now this I know, because I see Jesus, and I know I will rise up with Him.
PRAYER
Lord, my trust is not in my plans or programs, my schemes or skills, or my health or wealth. All that can fail me, but You will not. I choose to trust in You, You will get me through this!

When I pray – I must trust the Lord will answer – otherwise – what’s the point. If I go to the bus stand – I wait expecting that the bus will come – that is I trust that the system is working and that the bus is running and on schedule. I must actively wait for the Lord – expectant and trusting. Those who trust in the Lord will not be ignored – his answer may be different than what we want – I need to trust that He knows what’s best: He knows how to give me what I need and gives good gifts!
