Carry the load together!

Posted on January 2, 2020January 1, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 11:25-30

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30)
How can Jesus say that His yoke is easy and His burden light?
The life of radical love Jesus teaches, and lives, is NOT easy or light.
At least, not if you try to carry it yourself.
Actually, this life is not just difficult, it is impossible… by yourself.
But this life was never meant to be lived by ourselves, in our own strength.
We were created to live in partnership with God, with His Spirit in us.
Like a yoke with two oxen pulling it; Jesus is offering to help us pull.
What makes the Jesus Way an easy and light life is grace.
Grace to cover us when we falter and fail, which we inevitably do.
And grace to help us keep on trying, however imperfectly.
We make every effort to work out our salvation, because He is working in us!
We need never fear condemnation, since Jesus has taken care of it for us.
As you consider making resolutions for the new year, don’t go it alone!
Make a resolution to live with, like and for Jesus – He makes it easy and light!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to carry the burden of following You differently. Help me to share the burden with You, and to trust You when I stumble. You’ve got me covered, You will get me through it!

I’m reminded that I must be gentle and lowly like Christ taught me. That being “wise and understanding” may not be the best way to discern God’s will but rather to come as a student to Jesus, and that my soul is rested when I follow Him.

I love how verses 28-30 are rendered in The Message version of the Bible. Jesus invites me to “learn the unforced rhythms of grace” with Him. He assures me that when I “keep company with Him”, I will “learn to live freely and lightly”. That’s what I desire. Thank you, Jesus, for your invitation to learn, with You, the rhythms of grace. Help me to keep company with you so that I can learn to live freely and lightly. Amen.

Trust and Obey for there is no other way – to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. But sometimes the yoke is not easy – it is still a burden – but when I look back I realize that He helped me to carry the load! I am blessed to know my Heavenly Father through the Son – my Lord and Saviour! Help me to walk more nearly with you everyday – to grow to be more like you and to serve you as you lead me through your Holy Spirit.

Come to Jesus. He will give you rest.
Come to Jesus and He will comfort you.
When you walk with the Lord, that’s comfort.
My journey of joy continues in 2020 because I am never alone. My Lord continues to walk with me, leading and guiding me in the Way to go.

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
    Trust and obey,
    For there’s no other way
    To be happy in Jesus,
    But to trust and obey.

My Lord Jesus when you gave us your followers a command such as to love one another as you have loved us you did not expect us to do it by ourselves but you are there to share carry the yoke. You are always here with us to teach, encourage, support and lift us up when we fall short
Thank you for your amazing Grace!

think about it!

We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
