Even the hair on my head!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 10:26-31

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:30)
In my family of origin, early balding was an issue… except for me.
I joked it was because I was a minister, my boss had my hairs numbered.
But Jesus is not promising a way to avoid hardship… or hair loss.
The sparrows are numbered, yet they fall to the ground.
Jesus’ point is that no matter what happens, the Father has it in hand.
We will struggle, we will even fall at times, but never by mistake or surprise.
God never exclaims ‘oops!’ or ‘oh no!’ or ‘never saw that coming!’
God has granted us our freedom, even the freedom to be foolish or evil.
But He has not fully released us to our own devices; He keeps control for goodness sake.
As we strive to live and love for King and kingdom, He will help and use us, for good.
Our successes, but also our trials, even our deaths, will serve His kingdom purpose.
The only ones who need fear crisis and death are those who reject His gift of life and love.
We have nothing to fear; we belong to God body and soul, in life and in death!
Do you sense that everything in your life – even your hair – is under His care?
PRAYER
Lord, may this comfort inspire me with hope and boldness, that I make confidently show and share the goodness of Your kingdom life and love!

  1. My confidence is in the Lord – it is with His help that I can be bold – that I can do things I would hesitate terribly to do! It is not of myself – for when I have confidence on my own, I often stumble and blow it. Thanks be to my God who as a heavenly Father knows me (like my hairs) and cares for me. I do fear the one that can destroy both soul and body in hell. In the name of Jesus I am protected.

  2. Fear.
    It is a powerful driving force which can lead to panic – thus action.
    Fear of God leads to life, faith and action. This reverence to God leads us to grow in Him to serve because His grace and mercy lead us in the way. Since I am His and He is mine, that is my daily comfort and He will take care of me.

    Grace and truth shall mark the way
    Where the Lord His own will lead,
    If His Word they still obey
    And His testimonies heed.

    For Thy Name’s sake hear Thou me,
    For Thy mercy, Lord, I wait;
    Pardon my iniquity,
    For my sin is very great.

    He who walks in godly fear
    In the path of truth shall go;
    Peace shall be his portion here,
    And his sons all good shall know.

    They that fear and love the Lord
    Shall His holy friendship know;
    He will grace to them accord,
    And His faithful covenant show.

    Ever are my longing eyes
    On the Lord, Whose watchful care,
    When my foes their plots devise,
    Keeps my feet from every snare.

    Turn to me, Thy grace impart,
    I am desolate indeed;
    Great the troubles of my heart;
    Save Thou me, O Lord, I plead.

    Look on mine afflicted state,
    Freely all my sins forgive;
    Mark my foes, their cruel hate;
    Keep my soul and let me live.

    Shame me not; I hide in Thee;
    Truth and right preserve me still;
    Mark Thy people, Lord my God,
    Save Thou from every ill.

  3. The song ‘His eyes is on the sparrows’ is always comforting to me. And now Jesus spoke, “You are worth more than many sparrows” this assures me of the care of my Lord who even numbered my hairs, which kept falling every time I comb or shampoo.
    Thank you Jesus that by your love and grace I have no fear whatever may
