The freedom of forgiveness

SCRIPTURE: Acts 13:32-41
“Through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.” (Acts 13:38)
Forgiveness is proclaimed, announced, declared.
God has forgiven us, without our doing anything to deserve or earn it.
We do not need to believe to be forgiven; we are forgiven… believe it!
“Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin. ” (Acts 13:39)
The person who does not believe it misses out on its blessing.
They remain stuck in their sin, their shame, their guilt, their failure.
But those who believe it are free to claim it, receive it, enjoy it.
I know that I need God’s forgiveness, and I don’t doubt that He has forgiven me.
Where I get stuck is in stepping into the freedom of forgiveness.
Freedom to let go of my past, and keep pressing on to my better future.
Freedom to keep trying to live like Jesus – the good life – even if I mess up.
Free to be all that God made me to be… that is good news!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I eagerly accept Your forgiveness, but I still struggle with living by faith. Help me out of my stuckness into the freedom of life with You!

  1. Observations/Applications
    In Christ we are set free to serve. And that is Good News. Free to serve Him. In Him we have life everlasting. Jesus has set us/me free. Receive and believe. Take hold of this and pull. Don’t harden he heart. Be like a small child and accept by faith. He died for all so all may live for Him yet only those who accept that gift of life have that life eternal.
    Help me daily to live for Jesus in thankfulness of heart serving Him.

    God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name,
    I’ve been born again in Jesus’ name,
    And in Jesus’ name I come to you
    To share His love as He told me to.

    Chorus:
    He said, Freely, freely you have received;
    Freely, freely give.
    Go in my name and because you believe,
    Others will know that I live.”

    All power is given in Jesus’ name,
    In earth and heaven, in Jesus’ name;
    And in Jesus’ name I come to you
    To share His power as He told me to.
