Whatever you do

Posted on June 6, 2015June 6, 2015 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Colossians 3-4
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)
In this section, Paul is advising us how to live as Jesus followers.
Stay focused on God and Jesus, resist the power of sin, overflow with love and goodness!
Wherever you are in life (husband, wife, parent, child, master, slave), be a servant of Jesus.
Every word and every deed is a part of your ‘ministry’ (literally ‘service’).
As you drive, shop or camp, as you talk, visit or relax… whatever you do.
Jesus-followers are not Christians on steroids, over the top, going the extra mile.
Jesus-followers are disciples are Christians are Jesus-followers are disciples.
People who have devoted themselves to Jesus as their life-master, and live like Him.
Not just in formal ministry, or on missions trips, but in the office, the classroom, the lab.
Today as you go about your ordinary duties and daily routines…

Do it with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.
Work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.
You will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.
It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:22-25)

What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I have decided to follow You in whatever I do. Help me to see that every daily detail in my life is an opportunity to express my love and gratitude.

    Observations/Application
    A new way.
    A new life.
    A new direction.
    A new beginning.
Beginning each day with Him and clothing myself with compassion, kindness, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, peace, thankfulness, gratitude, etc. I need to live with the attitude of gratitude with altitude. GodStrong Who helps me daily to LiveStrong. I must live for Jesus. His way and not mine.
That is a possibility only when I walk with Him and talk with Him. First things first – spending time with Him at the start of the day , committing the day to Him since every day is the Lord’s day. I did spend two weeks at M2S in service there, but I am in service for Him wherever I am. All for Jesus.
So as we ‘hit’ the road once again, we do this prayerfully, in His name.

    Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
    Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands.
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands.

For it’s only in Your will that I am free,
For it’s only in Your will that I am free,
    Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

think about it!

The will of God will not take you where the grace of God will not keep you.
