SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 4-6
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise.” (Ephesians 5:15)
God has saved us from the consequences of foolish living, don’t return to it.
Don’t let the enemy suck you back into that destructive lifestyle.
This is war, the enemy wants to bring you down… BE VERY CAREFUL!!!
“Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16)
Every day we have to make choices about how we will live, how will we choose?
Many of us drift through our days without regard for the battle raging around us.
We make allowances for greed, lust, anger, pride, selfishness, as if they didn’t matter.
We have been saved from that, we are being restored to goodness… don’t go backwards!
Paul is teaching us practical ways to “live as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8).
I wonder if we need a wake up call, if we are becoming too comfortable with darkness.
BE VERY CAREFUL, THEN, HOW YOU LIVE!!!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I hear You loud and clear. I have lost this sense of seriousness and urgency. Remind me again of what is at stake, and how the Enemy wants to suck me back into misery and death.
Observations/Application
Once again I read how we are to ‘dress’ ourselves each day – humility, gentleness, patience, compassion, love and all of this is ends in service using God’s given gifts for others.
And in our daily living for Jesus, we must keeps our eyes focused on ‘home.’ All too often God’s people are influenced by the world’s ‘idols.’ Just look at His children then and now. Walk with Jesus daily. God is first in all things. he has shown us the Way and now I must just do it. And He has given His people strength by His Spirit and providing the armour of God with which I need to clothe myself each day anew. Then I can truly live for Jesus.
1. God gives His people strength.
If we believe in His way, He’s swift to repay
All those who bear the burden of the day
God gives His people strength.
2. God gives His people hope
If we but trust in His word, our prayers are always heard
He warmly welcomes anyone who’s erred.
God gives His people hope.
3. God gives His people love
If we but open wide our hearts, He’s sure to do His part
He’s always the first to make a start.
God gives His people love.
4. God gives His people peace.
When sorrow fills us to the brim, and courage grows dim
He lays to rest our restlessness in Him.
God gives His people peace.
