Repeat after me…

Posted on June 14, 2015June 13, 2015 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 136
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” (Psalm 136:1)
Repeat after me, ‘His love endures forever’.
If the message doesn’t sink in the first time, how about 26 times?
How He does love us, let us count the ways: 1,2,3…
If we really understood how much the Lord does for us, we would count forever.
This psalm was probably used as a responsive reading when the Jews gathered together.
But I want to stress its value as a daily discipline or faith-building exercise.
Try coming up with your own list of 26 reasons to praise the Lord.
Go through the details of your life story, like this psalm does.
Life is like a bead necklace, with many different colours (or kinds) of experiences.
But the enduring thread that runs through it all, the golden chain that holds it together…
Repeat after me, ‘His love endures forever’.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, this is timely, as I am feeling a wave of discouragement. May this repeated refrain keep me focused on the many ways Your love for me endures forever.

    Observation/Application
    It bears repeating.
    ‘His loves endures forever.’
    Why?
    We forget.
    God is good for He is King. Just look at the creation and the mighty things He did. The creation days just leaves us in a daze.
    Look at the past history of His people and see what the Lord God has done.
    Look at my own life and see the hand of God. Take the time and see what the Lord God has done. His grace was more than abundant and I . . . . I need to praise Him always for what He has done for me. Give thanks – not only on Thanksgiving Day, but each day. Develop an attitude of gratitude with altitude for His love endures forever and it is not because what my hands have done.
    At all times, in all situations His loves endures forever. The enemy wants me to doubt this truth yet God emphatically tells me, reassures me that He is in control. Come and see that the Lord is God. How many more reminders do I need?
    Increase my faith Lord.
    Lead me and guide me always.
    He has routed the enemy.
    In all circumstances, give thanks to the Lord of lords and the King of kings.

    Give thanks to God, for good is He, His grace abideth ever;
    To Him all praise and glory be, His mercy faileth never.
    His wondrous works with praise record, His grace abideth ever;
    The only God, the sovereign Lord, Whose mercy faileth never.

    His wisdom made the heavens be, His grace abideth ever;
    He spread the earth above the sea, His mercy faileth never.
    Praise Him Whose sun doth bring the day, His grace abideth ever;
    The moon and stars His might display, Whose mercy faileth never.

    He helped us in our deepest woe, His grace abideth ever;
    He ransomed us from all our foes, His mercy faileth never.
    Each creature’s need He doth supply, His grace abideth ever;
    Give thanks to God, enthroned on high, Whose mercy faileth never.
