Living like who?

Posted on March 13, 2015March 12, 2015 by Norm

We will look at Romans 7-8 tomorrow.
SCRIPTURE: Romans 5:1-6:23
“Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.” (Romans 5:14)
Humans were created to be like God, but like Adam we chose not to live that way.
We follow the sinful pattern of Adam, rather than the ‘very good’ pattern of God.
Until Jesus comes, the first human who is like Adam, but also like God.
Because of Jesus, humans have finally broken the cycle of sin and death.
If we put our hope and confidence in Jesus, the God-like-Adam, we will overcome!
Paul is urging us to live like the New Adam, not as slaves to the old Adam (nature).
We need to consciously see ourselves as “dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:11)
And we need to consciously choose, with God’s help, to live that way.
The pattern has been provided: like Jesus, like God!
Adam is the pattern of self and sin; Jesus is the pattern of love and life!
Am I making Jesus my pattern, am I choosing to live IN and LIKE Him?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, there is no better way to live. Following You is the way to peace and hope and life and success. Help me consciously follow Your pattern today!

    Observation/Application
    Alive.
    Alive forevermore!
Alive in Christ Jesus because He reigns.
His grace has made me free to serve and live for Him.
    All for Jesus.
Each day for service to the King Who made it a possibility and reality that I am free to serve My Saviour. I must serve the risen Saviour today and always. I need to walk with Him for He has given His SonShine to show me the way.
    Created to serve.
Help me this day Lord to live for You in all that I do.

    Spirit of the living God
    Fall fresh on me
    Spirit of the living God
    Fall fresh on me

Break me, melt me, mold me fill me
    Spirit of the living God
    Fall fresh on me

think about it!

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.
