A spiritual boost

Posted on February 2, 2015February 2, 2015 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 15:1-8
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you.” (John 15:4)
To remain in Jesus means to ‘be at home in’ Him.
Be with Him, even as He is with us, everywhere and always.
As we maintain this experiential fellowship, we are changed.
We sense His still small Voice within, teaching, rebuking, correcting, training.
We experience His wisdom, His strength, His love, His support.
Equipping us for every good work (the good fruit).
This inward spiritual help is not just imaginary, it is real.
It is a sense, a feeling, a boost of motivational energy.
Like a dead car battery being connected to a live battery, borrowed power.
God in me, Christ in me, the Spirit in me, boosting me with spiritual resources.
There are times when I let go, when I drift away, try to work in my own strength.
Thankfully when I drift, He is still ‘at home in me’, gently drawing me back.
Gently reminding me, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, when I stay close to You, I feel the difference. And when I drift, I also feel the difference. I prefer to stay close, it is much more satisfying.

    Observation/Application
Vine branches either bear fruit or they don’t. The Gardener cuts off or prunes the branches that don’t so that they do not take the nourishment from the branches that need it to produce fruit. But even those branches are pruned in order to yield more fruit.
We/I are part of God’s vineyard. No wild vine. Only rooted in Christ. It is only through Him I am grafted into the true vine and by no other graftings or ‘bloodlines.. There is no fruit apart from Christ because it is only He Who gives life.
Help me this day Lord to live for Jesus producing good fruit – the fruit of the Spirit.

The fruit of the spirit is not a coconut
The fruit of the spirit is not a coconut
If you want to be a coconut, you might as well hear it; you can’t be a fruit of the spirit.

‘Cause the fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Oh the fruit of the spirit is not a banana. The fruit of the spirit is not a banana.
If you want to be a banana, you might as well hear it; you can’t be a fruit of the spirit.

‘Cause the fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The fruit of the spirit is not a grape. The fruit of the spirit is not a grape.

think about it!

The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.
