Greatness comes from God!

Posted on December 7, 2014December 3, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 115
“The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind.” (Psalm 115:16)
Humans are amazing, humans are great, humans are important…
But not greater, not more amazing, not more important than God.
We often foolishly pride ourselves in what we do, what we accomplish, what we build.
But our accomplishments are empty idols, they cannot save or establish us.
Yes, we are entrusted with the responsibility to rule God’s creation.
But look at the mess we’ve made of it.
If it wasn’t for God’s mercy, and His protection, we would all be dead and gone.
Thankfully God overrules our folly because of His love and faithfulness.
Thankfully God sends a new Human, one who will rule the earth as it was meant to.
Through Jesus, a God-glorifying human once again is in charge (Matthew 28:18).
And we reign with Him, when we join with Him in submitting to – and glorifying – God.
When God is the greatest, we are great in Him.
But when we step away from God, and rely on ourselves and our accomplishments…
This whole world becomes a hopeless mess.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. I will trust You, You are my hope and shield! I will extol You, both now and forevermore!

    Observation/Application
    God above all because of His love and faithfulness.
    This Psalm reminds me not only of the gods His people made but also of the refrain of His people in their history. Eyes they have but do not see. Ears but do not hear. ll those who place their trust in a god will be like them – physical things.
    But my God is alive. Alive forevermore. He is Emmanuel – here with me as my Helper, Shield, Protector. He remembers His promises – His covenant promises. The Creator God remembers His people and I must do the same. I must see all what He has done for me. And as this day begins I need to praise my Maker Creator for this is His world and my world belongs to God.
    Praise Him this day while it is yet called today.

    Praise Him, praise Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Praise Him, praise Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.

    Love Him, love Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Love Him, love Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.

    Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love;
    Thank Him, thank Him, all ye little children,
    God is love, God is love.

think about it!

Make sure the thing you’re living for is worth dying for.
