Taste and see!

Posted on November 13, 2014November 13, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 6:30-40
“For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” (John 6:33)
God is eternal, undying, without beginning or end; creation is not.
Everything in creation depends on God for it’s existence.
If God were to let go, for a moment, everything would cease to exist.
By rejecting God, humans have separated themselves from God.
Though we should have ceased to exist at that moment, God did not let go.
God has graciously held on, and continues to plead with us to come back.
We look to things in this world to give us life: pleasure, success, riches, food, drink, health, sex.
But without God, none of these will last; at best they give us fleeting hints of what could be.
We do not need bread, we do not need water, we need God, we need LIFE, the life of God.
Jesus came to reconnect us to God; reconnected to God, everything in creation is a taste of LIFE.
Disconnected from God, everything in creation is a taste of death.
Obviously, Jesus is not literally bread.
But when we’re reconnected to God through Jesus, every meal comes ALIVE!
A sacrament of supernatural blessing through natural blessings.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Psalm 34:8)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, nothing in this world can satisfy my deep soul hunger. I need God. I need You. May I follow my soul cravings to You, and find the LIFE I am looking for.

    Observation/Application
    Remember the manna? It kept the Israelites alive during their desert wanderings. No manna. No life. But this was just the physical part of their daily living. Who was their Guide throughout? Whom did they have to trust and put their hope into? The daily relationship to God was necessary to live each day in their wanderings. They were wandering because of their lack of faith in the Word of God.
    As we can’y live without food for long, without our Saviour, Jesus Christ, there is no Life – just a physical existence. Jesus offers us the food we need for true living, a true relationship with Him and life/living forevermore. He is the Way. Living for Jesus each day.
    Be GodStrong
    and do His will this day.

    Living for Jesus a life that is true,
    Striving to please Him in all that I do;
    Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
    This is the pathway of blessing for me.

    O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
    I give myself to Thee,
    For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
    Didst give Thyself for me;
    I own no other Master,
    My heart shall be Thy throne,
    My life I give, henceforth to live,
    O Christ, for Thee alone.
    2
    Living for Jesus who died in my place,
    Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
    Such love constrains me to answer His call,
    Follow His leading and give Him my all.
    3
    Living for Jesus wherever I am,
    Doing each duty in His holy name;
    Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
    Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
    4
    Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
    My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
    Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
    Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

think about it!

However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts.
