More than miracles

Posted on October 29, 2014October 29, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 4:43-54
“Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.” (John 4:48)
The man believes enough to beg Jesus to heal his son.
But what Jesus means is that people are not believing in WHO He is.
Jesus did not come to perform signs and wonders, but to restore us to LIFE and God’s better world.
“Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:30-31)
People believed He was a miracle man, but not the messiah.
Jesus did not come to be our servant, but our Saviour.
People still today go to Jesus for miracles, but do not surrender to Him.
All over the world people are trapped in difficult, meaningless or destructive lives.
We do not need tricks, gimmicks, quick fixes, we need LIFE, full LIFE, eternal LIFE.
We are not called to be Jesus audience, but His followers.
To join with Him in bringing salvation, hope and LIFE to the world.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have what we need to experience LIFE. Forgive us for settling for trinkets, when You are offering life transformation and eternal blessing.

    Observation/Application
Words and deeds were part of Christ’s ministry. They came to see them, but believing in Him is faith. That is the necessary step. Take Jesus at His Word. Trusting His Word as Truth. The man came to Jesus trusting that He could heal. And when it did happen. his whole household believed. Great and mighty is our God!
I too need to come to Jesus and believe His Word, His Promises to me. And I need to share that Good News to my household and beyond. He is the answer and He continues to do mighty things.

Come to Jesus, He will save you,
Though your sins as crimson glow,
If you give your heart to Jesus,
He will make it white as snow.
    Refrain

Come to Jesus! Come to Jesus!
    Come to Jesus! come today!
Come to Jesus! Come to Jesus!
Come to Jesus! come, come today!

Come to Jesus do not tarry,
    Enter in at mercy’s gate,
O delay not till the morrow,
Lest Thy coming be too late.

    Refrain

    Come to Jesus, dying sinner,
    Other Savior there is none,
He will share with you His glory,
    When your pilgrimage is done.
