God’s preparations

Posted on August 25, 2014August 21, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Luke 22:7-13
The Jewish feast of Passover, when they celebrate God’s rescue from bondage in Egypt.
Jesus wants to celebrate God’s rescue of all people from bondage to sin, death and hell.
I am assuming that Jesus knew about the man with the house because God revealed it to Him in a time of prayer.
Jesus knows what is coming, He knows His days are few, but it is important for Him to celebrate the Passover.
For Him, it was not just looking back to Israel’s history, it was an anticipation of a greater event.
The disciples preparations are minuscule compared to God’s preparations.
For centuries the preparations have been made by God for this great Passover moment.
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)
At just the right time – these preparations for this passover are a part of God’s preparations.
Everything is unfolding according to God’s Master Plan, and Jesus is a willing partner in it.
God is still at work, with Jesus, preparing a place for us in eternity (John 14:1-3).
And at just the right time, all things will come together, as planned.
For today, we live each moment with anticipation, preparing for ‘take off’ (soaring with God!)
We do our work, eat our meals, share God’s love, pursue peace and justice, live for the kingdom…
Knowing that each moment is a part of God’s Master Plan.
We are making preparations for the ultimate Passover celebration!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I am preparing now for the great feast to come! Help me to prepare myself for the great future that You are preparing for me, for all!

    Observations/Preparation
    Obey.
    Just listen and do.
    Jesus told Peter and John to go and prepare and they responded ‘Where?’ And then did what was asked without question. Obedience.
    So too, this day I have His Word and I too must simply obey and do what He has asked. This day once again I must listen to the Voice saying, ‘This is the Way. Walk in it.’
    Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life.
    Listen to Him!
    Walk with Him.
    And do His will.

    I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest;
    Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.”
    I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad;
    I found in Him a resting place, and He has made me glad.

    I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give
    The living water; thirsty one, stoop down, and drink, and live.”
    I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life giving stream;
    My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in Him.

    I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light;
    Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright.”
    I looked to Jesus, and I found in Him my Star, my Sun;
    And in that light of life I’ll walk, till traveling days are done.
