Faithful servants?

Posted on May 27, 2014May 23, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Luke 12:35-41
There is a connection between the previous verses on handling material wealth.
Jesus has restored our place in creation as God’s image-bearing rulers.
He has recommissioned us to live and love and lead for the well-being of all.
He has departed, and entrusted us with the task – and the resources necessary – to bless others.
We are the servants, entrusted with the Master’s resources, expected to use them for His purpose.
And one day He will come back and check in on what we did as His servants, how we used His assets.
To be waiting and watching does not mean to be standing around doing nothing but waiting and watching.
It means to be hard at work, knowing that He will come, ready for when He does.
How many people are abusing His trust, using His resources for their own comfort or purpose?
How many Christians are standing around, waiting and doing nothing, expecting more reward still?
We are here to bless, not just enjoy the blessing; we are here to live and love and lead – like God.
Those who refuse to work should not expect a job at the end of the day.
Those who use their blessings to bless themselves should not expect a reward at the end of the day.
We are saved by grace to serve with grace; we are blessed to be a blessing.
Will the Lord find us fulfilling our work when He returns?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Yes Lord, You are telling this parable to everyone, and to me. You have given me everything I need to succeed. May I be faithful with all that You have entrusted to me!

    Observation?Application
The first verse sounds like the Boys Scouts motto – Be Prepared.
It is like the parable of the talents – use the gifts given for the Master’s purpose and give increase. I am not my own but bought for a purpose – to serve Him.

I need to be a faithful steward working in the Kingdom. Happiness is doing just that – serving the King.

As I’m singing, I try to do my best
For singing is a service of praise and thankfulness
With my whole heart, I’m living for my Lord
He’s the one I do all things for

    2. As I’m helping…

    3. As I’m studying…

    4. As I’m playing…

think about it!

What difference does it make to you what someone else becomes, or says, or does? You do not need to answer for others, only for yourself.
