To be really, fully alive!

SCRIPTURE: Luke 12:22-31
“For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” (Luke 12:23)
Jesus means more than being physically alive, He is talking about the meaning of life.
Apparently we get worked up (worried) about things that don’t matter as much.
The wisdom of Jesus is to focus on what matters, and to trust God for everything else.
The kingdom – or life in this world as it was meant to be – is what matters most.
We ought to pursue love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control, which is the character of the King, and the character of the kingdom.
No sense worrying about food and clothing, if the life that we’re feeding and dressing isn’t worth it.
It’s not that eating and dressing are unimportant, but they’re not most important.
Consider how people live, what they strive for, what they set their hearts on.
Outwardly they may look great, but inwardly they are dying, miserable, desperate.
Because as long as we are disconnected from the meaning of life, feeding and dressing it is pointless.
“But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” (Luke 12:31)
Pursue – set your heart on – what matters, and God will take care of the rest.

Lord, I don’t want to just be physically alive or healthy, I want to be really alive and healthy – alive to You and Your purpose, alive to the world and to others and to myself.
