Making Jesus great again!

Posted on July 26, 2026July 26, 2026 by Norm
Reflecting on John 10:40-42

“Though John never performed a sign, all that John said about this man was true.” (John 10:41)

Jesus left Jerusalem and went to the edges of the wilderness where John had been.
Before they had gone to hear and be baptized by John.
But John insisted he was not the Messiah; he preached Jesus!
Everything that he said about Jesus was confirmed when they saw and heard Jesus.
John was the witness, but Jesus was the reality that John witnessed to.

We are witnesses of Jesus too, and what we say should reflect the truth of Jesus.
Does what we say about Jesus reflect how Jesus lived, what Jesus taught?
If we only draw people to ourselves, they will become followers of us.
Many big name pastors and teachers seem to attract followings.
Some christians even describe themselves by the name of their human teacher.

For example, Calvinists, Wesleyans, Franciscans, Lutherans, Mennonites.
None of these leaders showed signs of being the messiah; all were flawed humans.
Our goal as witnesses should be to lead people to Jesus, so they can see for themselves.
As John said, “He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30)
Does my teaching point to Jesus, and does it lead them to trust Him for themselves?

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I do not want to gain a following or attract people to myself or my church. May what I say make Jesus greater, and may people come to You know better through my flawed and limited witness.

I am Christian. People need to see Christ Jesus living in me. I am practicing the Way and that Way, not my way, should be a Light to bring others to Him. I need to be be an instrument of His peace.
