Reflecting on John 6:25-29
“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” (John 6:27)
The food Jesus is talking about is not eternal life.
This food starts in this life, with endures into the life beyond.
Eternal life is a gift Jesus gives, but this food is something we work for.
We do not earn this food, rather this food naturally endures forever.
The food that Jesus is talking about is the harvest of goodness and love.
Work for love and the well-being of others, and that will endure forever.
This is the work of Jesus, and if we trust (believe in) Him, we will join Him.
It is through Jesus’ humble, gracious love in the service of others that we are saved.
Jesus restores God’s ‘very good’ kingdom by living in and for love.
He reclaims Adam’s throne, defeats Satan’s lie and gives us back eternity.
Living for self spoils life for ourselves and everyone else (ask Adam and Eve).
Sowing seeds of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc., brings a harvest of blessing.
We reap what we sow, and Jesus is urging us to sow gracious love with Him.
The results of our efforts will last beyond our lifetime.
Many others will be blessed and transformed by the fruit of His love in us.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, our problem is that we do not really believe that imitating Your humble, gracious love works. We prefer to be criticial, forceful, in control, on the winning side. Keep on reminding me that our ways spoil, but Your ways endure in this life and forever. I want to work WITH, LIKE and FOR You!

Be with Jesus.
Become like Him.
Do as He did.
That is practicing the way.
He came to serve
and
I need to do the same in His name.
I too ne to produce the the fruit of the Spirit
and
the greatest is Love.
