Reflecting on John 6:16-24
“Then they were willing to take him into the boat…” (John 6:21)
There are two miracles here: walking on water, and the boat suddenly reaching shore.
Jesus is a mystery to them, and it is no wonder they are frightened.
But Jesus overcomes their fears, and they are willing to take Him in.
Jesus may not feel safe to them, but they do know He is good.
They would rather be with Him in the storm, than without Him.
I cannot explain the HOW and the WHY of these miracles.
But it is not because of them that I am willing to take Jesus in my life.
Jesus is not easy to understand or explain; He remains a mystery to me.
But despite this, my hesitation is overcome by His goodness.
I would rather be with Jesus in my life, than without Him.
He doesn't come to frighten us into faith, but to set us free from fear.
The goodness of Jesus is the greatest miracle of all.
His goodness surpasses human goodness, overcoming evil and darkness.
His love, joy, peace, etc make me willing - eager - to be with Him.
I'd rather be with Jesus in my boat, than in this life without Him.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, the darkness and storms of this life keep coming, but having You in the boat gives me strength and hope that I too will reach the shore to where I am heading!
Peter walked on water to be with Jesus. When he lost his focus on Jesus, he sank. Remember the storm and the disciples had Jesus onboard? Their focus was not on Jesus but the storm. Where is my focus? I need to walk and talk with my Saviour at all times, placing my hand into His as He leads and guides me along the way. I am never alone for I am always in His presence walking in His ‘SonShine.’
