He knows me, and still uses me!

Reflecting on John 2:13-25

“Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people.” (John 2:24)

The people are putting their faith in Jesus (John 2:23).
But Jesus does put His confidence in them.
He did not get His hopes up when they responded positively to Him.
He knew how people are, how they can be fickle.
One moment they are crying ‘hosanna’, and the next moment ‘crucify!’

Like Peter, one moment I am crying out ‘I will die for you!’
And the next moment insisting, ‘I do not know the man!’
Jesus knows what is in all of us too… He knows me like this too!
Do we know ourselves like this, and can we admit it?
Even if Jesus does not entrust Himself to us, He still stays with us.

He is patient with our weakness, He gives us assignments and responsibility.
His confidence isn’t in us or what we do but in what God does in and through us.
He does not entrust the kingdim to us, but still allows us to work with Him for it!
These words encourage me: Jesus knows my weakness and mustard seed faith.
Despite His reservations, He still loves me and lets me help Him build the kingdom!

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You know me, You know what is in me. You do not entrust the future of God's kingdom to me, but You still allow me to work with You for that kingdom. Thank You for Your patient, gracious love and commitment to me.

    The following song came to my mind as I read today’s devotional:

    1 I am weak but Thou art strong;
    Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
    I’ll be satisfied as long
    As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
    Refrain:
    Just a closer walk with Thee,
    Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
    Daily walking close to Thee,
    Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
    2 Thro’ this world of toil and snares,
    If I falter, Lord, who cares?
    Who with me my burden shares?
    None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. [Refrain]
    3 When my feeble life is o’er,
    Time for me will be no more;
    Guide me gently, safely o’er
    To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore. [Refrain]

think about it!

Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith. They keep it awake and moving.
