God’s heart and mind revealed!

Posted on May 18, 2026May 14, 2026 by Norm
Reflecting on John 1:1-5

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

John starts biography of Jesus very differently.
He traces Jesus’s roots back to the beginning of the creation story.
“In the beginning” (Genesis 1:1) God spoke creation into being by His Word.
A person’s word is how they communicate their heart and mind.
What we say reveals who we are, what we think or feel or want.

And if we have the authority, our word becomes a command.
God has the authority and the power; when God speaks, things happen.
John sees Jesus as the heart and mind of God made flesh (see John 1:14).
Jesus the human both reveals and accomplishes God’s heart and mind.
He reveals Who God is, what God thinks and feels, wants and does.

I cannot explain how this works, but it does make sense to me.
When we see Jesus, we see the Father and the works of the Father (John 14:10-11).
In Jesus we see, and are given, the fullness of God in human form (Colossians 2:9-10).
We see the radiance of God’s glory, the exact representation of God’s being (Hebrews 1:3).
We experience the ‘very goodness’ of God’s light, life and love when we know Jesus!

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I don't know how You are God with us, but when I experience You, I experience the heart and mind of God. In You I see God, and what I see fills me with light, and life, and love! Thank You for showing God to me!

In the beginning, God spoke the Word and it became.
Jesus was the Word among us as promised.
And that Word continues to be with us through the Spirit’s presence.
The Trinity at work from the creation and still today. Three in One and One in Three. And even today I can see evidence of their creation power in the creation and in the works among people today, living for the Word.

think about it!

I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history.
