Reflecting on Luke 24:44-49
“You are witnesses of these things.” (Luke 24:48)
The first disciples witnessed Jesus in person.
Their experiences form the basis of everyone else’s experience of Jesus.
They testified to what they saw and heard and experienced in Jesus.
We cannot fully do the same thing as them, but we can still be witnesses.
We witness to what we experience with Jesus today.
When we hear the message, or break the bread, our hearts burn as well.
The Spirit of Jesus opens our eyes to see and understand.
We have come to know the wonderful gift of forgiveness and release.
We have sensed the smiling grace of God in Jesus, and we are changed.
We are not original witnesses, but our experience is still real.
You don’t have to share what you haven’t experienced.
Don’t pretend to know more or experience more than you really do.
Just be real, share the reason for the love, joy, peace, hope, etc in You.
Do this with gentleness and respect, and trust God to use Your witness.
Through us, the power of the Spirit is working “to all nations”, as promised!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, my experience of You is not the same as the first disciples, but it is still real. It is not the strength of my witness, by of Your Spirit, working through me. May other people experience Your smiling grace through me, so they too have something to witness to.

Make me a channel of Your peace
Where there is hatred, let me bring Your love
Where there is injury, Your pardon Lord
And where there’s doubt, true faith in You
Make me a channel of Your peace
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness, ever joy
Oh master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul
Make me a channel of Your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we’re born into eternal life
Oh master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul
Make me a channel of Your peace
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness ever joy
And where there’s sadness ever joy
