Open my eyes too!

Posted on March 29, 2026March 29, 2026 by Norm
Reflecting on Luke 18:35-43

“When all the people saw it, they also praised God.” (Luke 18:43)

This blind man wasn’t the only one whose eyes were opened.
The same group that tried to silence the blind man now see his healing.
They did not understand – could not see – that this was what Jesus was about.
Even after all this time with Jesus, they were still blind to Who Jesus was.
The blind man on the other hand could see Jesus better than they did.

Is it possible that I am blind to Who Jesus is – with Him, yet not seeing Him?
I may spend time thinking and talking about Jesus, but do I reflect Him?
I talk about Jesus all the time, but not because I think I see Him better.
My suspicious is that I don’t see Him, and that I don’t get Him.
By immersing myself in Jesus, and not giving up, I feel like this blind man.

Over time I feel I am slowly seeing Jesus better, and yet have so much more to see.
“Lord, I want to see You!” (Luke 18:41)…, this is what I am eagerly pursuing.
My other prayer is to not hinder people, but help them see Jesus better.
Jesus is eager to open our eyes and our minds to the fullness of God’s love.
I don’t want to be like this rebuking crowd, making it harder for others to see.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I want to see you better, and I want others to see you better too. Open our eyes so that we can praise God too!

A question I ask myself at times and need to do more often,’Where did I see Jesus this day?’ As His disciple I am following/practicing His way but I need to see Him better as I serve Him – as an instrument of His peace. I am reminded of the following song:
Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see you
    I want to see you

To see you high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

think about it!

Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.
