Am I hindering or helping others?

Posted on May 7, 2025May 6, 2025 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 21:12-17

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves… The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.” (Matthew 21:12,14)
I am noticing the contrast in how Jesus treats people.
Those robbing the people are treated harshly.
Those who are desperate, in need of hope and help, He heals.
God sets up the temple as a place of healing and renewal.
God’s “house of prayer” is a welcoming place of fellowship and family.
It was not just for the Jews, but for the nations (Isaiah 56:7).
This is why Jesus is so angry, and why He overturns tables.
He does not overturn tables at the Roman garrison.
He does not overturn tables at the home of tax collectors.
His anger is reserved for the religious leaders, who should know better.
Those who have been graciously loved, should be graciously loving.
Those who have been welcomed by grace, should welcome others by grace.
Am I a welcoming person/place of grace, hope, help and healing?

Lord Jesus, God’s wrath is reserved for those who have been graciously loved, yet refuse to graciously love others. Make me a “house of prayer” for ALL people, and keep me from hindering and hurting those who desperately need Your hope and help and healing.
