Rejecting the real Jesus?

Posted on January 30, 2025January 30, 2025 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father.” (Matthew 10:33)
Jesus is not speaking about those who didn’t know about Jesus.
These ones know Jesus and what he is like: compassion, mercy, justice.
They are rejecting the real Jesus, all that Jesus represents.
I wonder about the many today who have stopped believing in Jesus.
I wonder whether they actually knew Jesus for who Jesus was.
Many of them reject the ‘christian’ version of Jesus.
The Jesus they meet in church is demanding, judgmental, unmerciful.
They want love, compassion, justice, but don’t see it in the churchy Jesus.
Maybe they are actually owning the real Jesus by rejecting this false Jesus.
Maybe their ‘unbelief’ is a better faith than the churchy faith they reject.
When Jesus returns, will it be any different than when he first came?
The lost and wayward came to him, but religious believers did not.
The religious disowned Jesus because he wasn’t what they thought.
I wonder if many churchy christians today will respond in the same way?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you do not disown those who long for goodness and love, but those who reject them. You and God are goodness and mercy, and all who long for this will receive it!

think about it!

To pray truly means to direct the thought and the memory, without relaxing, to the recollection of God, to walk in God’s divine Presence, to awaken oneself to God’s love by thinking about God, and to link the Name of God with one’s breathing and the beating of one’s heart.
