PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“At that time you will be given what to say…” (Matthew 10:19)
Can you imagine how scary it was for the disciples to speak for Jesus?
Maybe you can; public speaking is one of most peoples’ greatest fears.
I’ve gotten past most of my fear of public speaking, but I still struggle.
I do worry about what to say, and how to say it.
And I am not under arrest, or being betrayed or hated (10:21-22).
I find courage to know the Spirit of God speaks through me.
‘At that time’ means not beforehand, but while you are speaking.
In the moment of fear and struggle, the Spirit of God speaks.
The Spirit speaks through my stumbling words, my unclear message.
We do not need to be wise and persuasive; just be sincere and open.
I am always amazed at what people hear when I speak.
Sometimes it fits with what I was saying, sometimes its different.
But Jesus is ready to speak through the humble heart and mouth.
I still worry… but I also trust that somehow God speaks anyway!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, give me a sense of peace as I speak today, knowing that no matter what comes out, your Spirit will be there too, saying more than I realize, what you want them to hear.
