PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 4

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Come, follow me and I will send you out to fish for people.” (Matthew 4:19)
Jesus refuses to follow the self-serving agenda of Satan and sin.
Jesus comes to bring good news, hope, healing, freedom, forgiveness.
Jesus is the living embodiment of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness faithfulness, self-control.
When Jesus says ‘come follow me’, he wants them to join him in this.
‘Refuse to live Satan’s way, join me in living in God’s way!’
In a world driven by selfishness, this will attract people.
In a sense, living like Jesus is a lure, baiting people to Jesus.
Not fishing for people to eat or kill them, but to set them free.
Jesus is still looking for people to join him in this.
It means leaving our self-serving lives, and living for Jesus.
It means being humble and gracious toward others, to draw them to Jesus.
Being a Christian is a calling, not just a ticket to heaven.
Will I join Jesus in loving like him, drawing others back to God?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you are looking for more people committed to living WITH, LIKE and FOR you. May your self-giving love at work in me draw large crowds to God.
