PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 1

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“They will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God with us’)” (Matthew 1:23)
Jesus is God with us, just Isaiah had promised (Isaiah 7:14).
This is tricky to understand because we experience them differently.
For me ‘God’ is bigger than our minds can understand.
We talk about the trinity – Father, Son, Spirit – but how does this work?
I cannot explain this, but I do experience God in this three dimensional way.
The Father is ‘God over us’, how God is behind everything, the Creator of all!
The Son Jesus is ‘God with us’, how we relate to God personally in the world.
The Spirit is ‘God in us’, how we feel and connect with God inwardly.
God is all around us, and with us, and in us – we are never alone!
Personally I am thankful for Jesus, because I need a God with skin on.
In Jesus I see what God intended for us, how we should be.
‘God with us’ shows us what it means to be human, in God’s image.
‘God with us’ assures us that he is with us always, and will lead us home!
Do you call him ‘God with us’, and do you experience him this way?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you make God real to me. You also show me what it means for me to be like God. Thank you for becoming like me, so that I can become like you, like God!
