PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 1

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“She was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:18)
This is the part of the story that makes skeptics snicker.
For Matthew, it is one more reason to believe in Jesus.
I am naturally a skeptic; inwardly I usually question miracle stories.
What may seem to be a miracle may only be a perception or misunderstanding.
But two thoughts remind me to stay humble and open.
First, wouldn’t my own response be a perception or misunderstanding?
Do I see it know everything, can I prove it didn’t happen?
Second, I believe in God the Creator of everything.
The God that breathed life into dust, no father or mother (Genesis 2:7).
The God that still creates and sustains all life, also a miracle.
I don’t know how God did it, but I do believe God could do it.
Jesus’s birth suggests a new beginning, a new Adam to make things right.
God becomes human to do for us what natural-born humans cannot do.
A natural human can’t save us; we need a supernatural human!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I remain humble about and open to your supernatural birth because a only a supernatural human can save us from the mess we natural humans make.
