Looking for footprints!

Posted on March 10, 2024March 9, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 77

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Though your footprints were not seen.” (Psalm 77:19)
Sometimes after the grandkids leave, we find fingerprints on the windows.
Actually, there are fingerprints everywhere, but we don’t see them.
Faith sees God at work even if you can’t see God.
Asaph is pleading to God for help, like in the past.
He recalls how God rescued the people through sea and wilderness.
Water and cloud, thunder and lightning – God was behind it all.
Yet people did not see God’s footprints – proof that it was God.
This is still true for us; we cannot actually see God at work.
Faith clings to the hope of a good God, a God of love.
Faith sees invisible footprints (or fingerprints) in everything.
Faith prays to this good God, clinging to hope in tough times.
God does not cause evil, but God does direct evil to better ends.
Ordinary, natural things line up in ways that work out for good.
Pay attention to what happens today… look for God’s footprints.
PRAYER
Lord, you are directing me through storms and trials to advance your kingdom. Help me to see that it is you, and to hang on by faith when I can’t see it.

Forgetting to remember! I’ve found that the exercise of writing down some remembrances, or looking through old photo albums – the memories remind me of God’s faithfulness – when I think of where God has taken me – I see how faithful God has been in the past. He is faithful now and his history shows He will be faithful in the future. I just need to remember. The Bible is there to help us remember – the HS is there also to coach us now – to tweak memories – to remind us. O Lord – let us not forget and lose our way! When you wait – teach us patience for we know from our past that you have the best in mind!

    Open our eyes Lord.
Amid our toils and troubles, I need to ask each day, ‘Where did I see the Lord this day?’
As He led His people years ago to the promised land, they too needed to see what the Lord God had done for them, to be reminded in future days how He guided them. I too need to look at the days past and see how the hand of the Lord God was with me then and still is with me today. At all times He continues to ‘carry me.’ Open my etes Lord so that I may see You all the time.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You, I want to see You
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You, I want to see You

    [Chorus]
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

    [Verse]
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You, I want to see You
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You, I want to see You

    [Chorus]
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
