One thing for sure, if the heart of Christianity is not compassion, then it does not reflect the heart of God.
I believe that compassion (love) is what Jesus is all about, and His life is the perfect demonstration of it.
I also believe that deep down inside we sense that love and compassion are ultimate… we sense it because that is how God created us, though sadly we no longer live this way.
You do not need to be a Christian, or believe in God, to sense this.
Though for me God and Jesus are essential for understanding the true depth and wonder of compassion, people of all faiths and cultures can sense it too.
