Reflecting on Acts 1:1-11
“It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.” (Acts 1:7)
The disciples want to know when God’s kingdom will be restored.
But Jesus makes it clear the timing is not for us to know.
To focus on the times and dates is to miss the point.
Our task is not to speculate when but to engage in the how.
Leave the timing to God… just go and be my witnesses (v.8).
Throughout the ages Christians have been sidetracked by when.
They studied the signs, and calculated the date of Jesus’s return.
They used this information to frighten people into repenting.
In my memories from the eighties on, this has happened often.
People look at the signs and insist Jesus must be coming soon.
History has been filled with times that feel like the end.
But history goes on, and all the speculations come to nothing.
We are not to waste our time speculating, we are to witness to the kingdom.
By how we live, love and serve people, we help Jesus restore His kingdom.
The only time issue we should focus on is when we will start witnessing like this!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, we do not know, and cannot know when Your kingdom will be fully restored. But we do know when we are to witness for You... NOW! May Your kingdom come, may Your will be done, in my life as it is in heaven!

All my time is in His hands. All my time needs to be serving Him – living forJesus. I am a servant in His ‘garden’ working/living in His kingdom. I am a Kingdom worker tending His garden. MayHis spirit lead and guide me daily to be an instrument of His peace.
