Open my eyes!

Posted on August 30, 2024April 16, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: 2 Kings 5-6

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kings 6:16)
When we walk with the Lord, we always outnumber our enemies.
Our physical eyes may not see this, but eyes of faith can.
The stories in this chapter remind Israel how God is with them.
Not just Israel, but with everyone (as Naaman experienced).
In times of suffering or struggle, we’re surrounded and supported.
This doesn’t mean God always shows up in these visible ways.
Often God’s purposes are different than our immediate needs.
Jesus knew this; God’s ‘armies’ did not step in for him.
“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:53)
“Open (our) eyes, Lord, so that (we) may see.” (2 Kings 6:17)
We are surrounded and supported by the Lord’s power and purpose.
No matter how bad things look, there’s more of us with Jesus!
Today I want to try to be conscious of the Lord’s armies with me!
PRAYER
Lord, just because I can’t see you, doesn’t mean you’re not there. Open my eyes to see you, to know you’ve ot my back!

“forgive your servant for this one thing” Naaman asked forgiveness when he had to bow with his king to the god Rimmon. Elisha excepted that – Naaman’ eyes were opened. Yet the king of Israel did not. The banquet that he prepared for the blinded Aramean raiding party that was sent to capture Elisha – convinced the King of Aram not to send any more raiding parties. But it didn’t last, how soon it is forgotten. Wonder what it must of been like for Naaman? Yet God still works among these kings to make his name known. Elisha is respected by all and feared. Help me Lord not to lose sight of what you are doing here – even now. You are in charge.
