Faith that hangs on!

Posted on July 10, 2024May 10, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 18:1-8

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8)
Jesus followers are to keep praying for justice or mercy!
Stay persistent because God will answer one day!
This is what his asking about finding faith refers to.
Jesus is not being critical by his question but concerned.
He knows God’s timing is very different than ours (quickly? v.8).
He knows how many see God as an unjust judge, refusing to help.
And he can relate to unanswered prayer and delayed justice.
Still he urges us not to give up, because one day…
Unanswered prayer has led many to give up on God.
Jesus gets this, yet urges us to be strong and not give up.
It may seem like God has let go or doesn’t care.
But if an unjust human judge may come through, HOW MUCH MORE GOD!
Faith hangs on when we can’t see what we’re hanging on to.
I choose to hang on to Jesus, even though he’s taking forever!
PRAYER
Lord, I will not give up on your justice and mercy, it is our only hope.

“However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” This sentence makes me wonder. I am sure for places where the message of Jesus is scarce – believers may wonder or may feel threatened under persecution. Or we may see the trend to secularism and the movement away from believing and see the trend to faithlessness. It calls believers to be even that more vigilant and faithful! Lord help me not to waver but to keep the faith!

    Come to Jesus.
I come to Jesus each day, talking to Him early in the morning and at the end of the day and times inbetween. And my prayers for this world and for His people have been answered but not as I desire. Not yet was the answer. His will be done. And in the meantime I continue to prayer. Staying in touch with the Lord. He has given the strength and power to stay in contact and not give up. Have Thine own way Lord. You are the Potter and I the clay. My life is in Your hands. Thank You that You hear me and You continue to strengthen me and guide me along the way.

I will call upon the Lord, (I will call upon the Lord,)
Who is worthy to be praised, (Who is worthy to be praised)
So shall I be saved from mine enemies (So shall I be saved from mine enemies).

The Lord liveth, and blessed be the rock!
And may the God of my salvation be exalted!
The Lord liveth, and blessed be the rock!
And may the God of my salvation be exalted!

think about it!

Surely there is something in the unruffled calm of nature that overawes our little anxieties and doubts; the sight of the deep-blue sky and the clustering stars above seems to impart a quiet to the mind.
