To hear his whispering voice!

Posted on August 16, 2024August 3, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: 1 Kings 19-20

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” (1 Kings 19:12)
In these chapters we see dramatic signs of God’s power.
Yet the signs are still not enough to convince Elijah.
Similarly, Jesus performed great miracles but people still doubted him.
It was only in hearing God’s Voice through him that some believed.
In everything that happens, big and small, the Voice of God is whispering.
Hearing God, being with God, knowing God — this is the goal.
Many christians still clamour for signs, when what we really need is God.
But God is not in the fire, nor the healing, nor the multiplied loaves, etc.
God is in you, God is whispering love and wisdom into your heart.
Jesus is God in a body, drawing near so that we might know him.
He is still calling gently, with a ‘still small voice’, calling you to come.
Listen with your heart, listen to your heart, eagerly desire to hear him.
Feel, sense, and hear his assurance, ‘You are not alone, I am with you!’
Stop seeking miracles, seek to know God and Jesus — this is the true joy of LIFE!
PRAYER
Lord, Elijah saw many miracles but it was knowing you and hearing your voice that ultimately satisfied him. May I hear your gentle whisper again today, its what my heart truly desires.

“What are you doing here, Elijah?” This is a question we should all ask. What are we doing here on this earth – what purpose are we to achieve? It is not simply to eat and drink and dance – but rather to be productive in God’s kingdom. Elijah seemed to be burned out – and felt he alone was left of the faithful – but it wasn’t true. Men like Obadiah has protected the faithful and there were many more. So what am I doing here? Trying to be faithful to my calling as a follower of Jesus – that makes all the difference in everything I do! I’m here to serve in the name of Jesus – that’s what I’m doing here! Help me to stay true to my calling, O Lord!

    Open eyes.
    Open ears.
And an open heart to hear God speaking. He is everywhere.
Emmanuel. God with us. That was and is and always will be – God dwelling among His people. Our Lord God is everywhere if I but submit to Him. Help me daily Lord to live for Jesus, doing His will, in Kingdom service for that I was created to do. Continue to lead me and guide me in that service. Your will be done.

Give your heart to Jesus, He is calling you,
Give your heart to Jesus, He is calling you,
Give your heart to Jesus, He is calling you,
    Give Him your heart today.

think about it!

Integrity is keeping my commitments even if the circumstances when I made those commitments have changed.
