Who is seeking who?

Posted on June 18, 2024May 1, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 15:8-10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Doesn’t she… search carefully until she finds it?” (Luke 15:8)
Of the billions of people in the world, many don’t know God.
Do you have a loved one that is not seeking God?
Is God just waiting for people to come back?
Does God refuse to move until we make the first move?
The whole story of the bible is about how God seeks us!
“The Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’” (Genesis 3:9)
God steps into our sin-messed world in Jesus to find and save us.
Jesus knows the mess we’ve made of our lives.
He has not stopped pursuing us, and will not stop.
He does this in unique ways for each person:
Through their relationships, experiences, thoughts, crises.
He continues to whisper in love, ‘where are you?’
Whether or not I’m seeking God, God through Jesus is seeking me.
If I pay attention, I may sense him through my daily experiences.
PRAYER
Lord, you are still drawing me, and them, and everyone, back to God. Thank you for never giving up until you find us!

    “…search carefully until she finds it?” Jesus is more than concerned about the lost – the diligence of this woman to find her lost coin or the shepherd leaving the 99 to find the lost sheep or more importantly Jesus going to the cross to save us. Lord help me to exercise the same diligence in seeking out those who do not know you yet – especially those who struggle! Instill in me the same drive and concern, I pray!

    The lost coin: the lost sheep. The master was searching for what he had lost.
    But the coin and the sheep were found.
    Oh the relief. Oh the joy.
    Jesus continues to come to His people since the Fall. He continues to show His presence. He continues to find His own. He stands at the door and knocks. Do I have enough sense to answer/respond. Christ is here as He had promised. Emmanuel. Do I see His hand in my daiy life? I need open eyes and open ears to see God and pay attention to what is happening in my life. He continies to seek His people.

    1 I sought the Lord, and afterward I knew
    He moved my soul to seek Him, seeking me;
    it was not I that found, O Savior true;
    no, I was found of Thee.

    2 Thou didst reach forth Thy hand and mine enfold;
    I walked and sank not on the storm-vexed sea;
    ’twas not so much that I on Thee took hold,
    as Thou, dear Lord, on me.

    3 I find, I walk, I love, but O, the whole
    of love is but my answer, Lord, to Thee!
    For Thou wert long beforehand with my soul,
    always Thou lovedst me.

think about it!

The perfect church service would be one we were almost unaware of. Our attention would have been on God.
