A dream worth seeking!

Posted on May 20, 2024March 6, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 12:22-31

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” (Luke 12:31)
In Matthew’s version, Jesus says to seek God’s kingdom AND righteousness.
These both go together, and can be summarized as God’s kingdom.
God’s kingdom is the world as God intended it to be.
God’s righteousness is the way God intended us to live.
If we pursue one, we pursue the other, for both reflect God’s character.
Jesus is urging us to make our top priority God’s dream for this world.
God’s dream includes: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc.
This was Adam and Eve’s task from the beginning.
God provided their daily needs, what they needed to serve his kingdom.
We pursue God’s honour, kingdom and will, and God provides the rest.
This is also how we are to pray – seeking these things first.
This is what LIFE actually consists of – the God life!
Our mistake is to pursue the ‘everything else’, seeking life in them.
But the good life is not found in food, clothing, money, sex, fame, etc.
We will not find LIFE (contentment, joy) until we pursue the God life.
PRAYER
Lord, if I really want to be fulfilled, then pursuing your kingdom dream is the only way! Nothing else will satisfy or last.

    Maybe there is not a lot to worry about – but there sure is a lot to think about! I wonder about many things – how they will turn out. As I leave responsibilities behind – delegated to others in transition – I wonder. I may get anxious about things – is my preparation adequate – am I able to communicate well? Will my voice hold out? Will I be able to hear when I need to hear? I can get anxious and lose sleep – I try to submit it to God – but sometimes my mind isn’t able to release and relax. Lord help me to do so – I desire to seek your kingdom first above all – help me to let go of all the other things that make me anxious!

    Today is a new day and I will walk in His ‘Sonshine.’ I see how the Lord tkes care of His creation throughout the seasons as now the farmers are preparing the soils and planting the seeds. However, they can not make the seeds to grow. They need to leave all that in the hands of God. So I too need to leave all things in the hands of God. God will take care of me. I need to walk and talk with Him daily as I live for Him. I am His and He is mine and He will take care of me. So why worry? Spirit of God lead me and guide me while I serve/work/live in this your Creation.

    1 Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
    God will take care of you;
    Beneath his wings of love abide,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain:
    God will take care of you,
    through ev’ry day, o’er all the way;
    He will take care of you,
    God will take care of you.

    2 Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
    God will take care of you;
    When dangers fierce your path assail,
    God will take care of you. [Refrain]

    3 No matter what may be the test,
    God will take care of you;
    Lean, weary one, upon his breast,
    God will take care of you. [Refrain]

think about it!

I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history.
