True glory and honour!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 8

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Made a little lower than the angels and crowned with glory and honor.” (Psalm 8:5)
A little lower than angels, yet crowned in a way the angels are not.
The angels are ministering spirits sent to serve the crowned humans (Hebrews 1:14).
Humans are created beneath angels, yet are honoured above them.
Those who are higher serve those who are lower.
Here we see the foundational creation principle that reflects what God is like.
God’s glory is to love, serve and bless all that is below him – everyone, everything.
This is love: placing oneself beneath the ones that you love, to lift them up.
This is what our mission is as well: to go beneath to lift others up.
In marriage this is mutual headship and submission (Ephesians 5:21-33).
Our problem is that we reduce our glory and honour by exalting it.
By striving to be on top, we actually make ourselves lesser.
Sin is self-serving, grace is other-serving, the way that Jesus saves and serves us.
If we want to glorify God and be honoured, we do not do it by elevating ourselves.
Jesus calls us to join him in glorifying God through humbly lifting others up!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to serve creation and others and you in this self-giving, other-serving way. Show me the honour and glory of honouring others above myself.

  1. “You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their[g] feet:” What a responsibility – to be entrusted to rule over the animals, plant life, the environment of our world and all its resources. That is what God has entrusted to us. We are to be the world’s stewards and entrusted with its use and care! But we tend to overuse and abuse – being careless and poisoning our air, water and ground. As followers of Jesus, as Stewards we need to be part of the solution – looking for conservation and balanced sustainable use and care. That is the values we need to live by – it’s God beautiful creation that he loves – we must it love it as much as God does!!

  2. On a beautiful ‘SonShine’ cool morning I experience the majesty once again of His creation. I sit in awe watching the clouds float by. Who am I in comparison? I too am part of the creation created to serve. A servant of the King giving praise in my service for He makes me strong and enables me. May others see that I am that I am a child of the King by my words and deeds. May they see Christ Jesus living in me.

    1 My Father is rich in houses and land,
    He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
    Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,
    His coffers are full, He has riches untold.

    Refrain:
    I’m a child of the King,
    A child of the King,
    With Jesus my Savior,
    I’m a child of the King.

    2 My Father’s own Son, the Savior of men,
    Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them;
    But now He is reigning for ever on high,
    And will give me a home in heav’n by and by. [Refrain]

    3 I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
    A sinner by choice and an alien by birth;
    But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
    An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown. [Refrain]

    4 A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
    They’re building a palace for me over there;
    Though exiled from home, yet still may I sing:
    All glory to God, I’m a child of the King. [Refrain]
