Why struggle alone?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Ecclesiastes 3-4

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
As disciples of Jesus, we know the value of the team.
We see Jesus surrounding himself with friends and helpers.
And we see him sending out his disciples in pairs – never alone!
The author of Ecclesiastes is honestly facing the brokenness of life.
It is enough to drive us to defeat and despair, to give up, to run away.
But when we stand together and support each other, we can overcome.
Satan wants to drive us apart, the Lord wants to draw us together.
Notice how Satan only spoke to Eve; he isolated her to defeat her.
Sadly too many disciples struggle alone spiritually.
They may be surrounded by people in church, but they still struggle alone.
As a Jesus follower, do you have at least one accountability partner?
Someone you can support, but that can also support you?
It is not good for us to be alone; find someone to strengthen your cord!
PRAYER
Lord, you draw us together, but Satan drives us apart. Help me to surround myself with others who can struggle and stand with me, so Satan won’t win!

  1. Do good.
    Be joyful.
    Take pleasure in your work.
That truly is a gift from God.
I am working in His Kingdom and that gives happiness.
If one desires happiness in his work, serve the Lord with all your heart.
    Be a servant.
    All for Jesus.
    Working in His kingdom.

If you’re happy and you know it,
Then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it,
    Clap your hands.

  2. In the face of evil, in the face of ego driven advancement and achievement – in a competition to get ahead and have a good life – satisfaction is the illusive thing. Contentment, peace of mind/heart – comes from a relationship with the creator: “That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God”. It is where I found it – and it is a gift – especially the gift of the Holy Spirit. Yet I still strive – but when it’s good its because I’m seeking what Jesus would have me do and say. Lord, help me with the words and deeds that make a difference for what matters – that others may come to know you too, Jesus, and find their contentment!
