Jan 5 — Revelation 14:1-13

Posted on January 4, 2008May 10, 2021 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: Revelation 14:1-13

OBSERVATION:
The 144,000 represent the fullness of the OT and NT believers (12 tribes x 10 x 12 apostles x 10, x 10), the number 10 representing fullness. They sing a song through all their trials that others cannot figure out, and they learn it from Jesus, whom they follow “wherever He goes”. The first angel represents the age of the church, witnessing to the victory of Jesus. The second angel represents that same age, but from the point of view of the devil’s defeat. The third angel represents the warning to people not to get sucked in to the devil’s lies. It is more blessed for people to die now, than to risk being sucked in to the devil’s lies.

APPLICATION:
The sense of these words is that we are in a dark and difficult time, and it will only get harder. We must stand firm, remain faithful to the Lord, and keep on singing His song. I can sense how I am lured and tempted, and often how I am sucked in. In moments of awareness I see my folly, but at other times it takes over my reason. There have been times when I thought it would be easier to die than to keep on fighting. At those times the Lord has reminded me of His song on my heart. Thankfully, though I often wander, His song draws me back to Him.

PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for singing Your song in my heart, even when I don’t join You. Help me to put up a better fight, to resist the devil’s lies, and to stand up for You. Amen.

Here we have the Lamb and the name of God is written upon their foreheads. They were singing a new song, the song of the redeemed. They followed the Lamb of God and walked in His ways.

There were also three angels. The first calling the people to worship the Creator God. The second proclaiming that Babylon had fallen and the third telling all who worship the beast will also fall.

God’s people must be patient. Also today blessed are all those who remain faithful inspite of difficult circumstances. We must remain faithful with a song in our heart knowing full well that we are redeemed and that our deeds follow us because we are in the Lord. He will help us on our Way.

    Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
    I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.

think about it!

I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.
