Oct 14 — Philippians 2:19-30

SCRIPTURE: Philippians 2:19-30

Many people live every day as they do every Friday – TGIF! If the joy of the Lord God is my strength, then I need to live every day as Today God Is First! My plan needs to be in accord with God’s plan. Am I on the same track He is on? When I place Jesus first in my heart then I can live at peace with all mankind. That brings joy to my life each day so I can enjoy each day in joy.

Too often we honour the rich and famous. Here Paul honours those who give their lives for Christ’s sake – going where many Christians can not go – His ambassadors – His missionaries. Paul asked the Philippian church to honour Epaphroditus and people like him. Epaphroditus was the church’s messenger in Paul’s time of need. He also risked his life for the sake of the gospel. The church needs to continue to support the ministry of sharing the Gospel, not only locally, but globally. Give praise and support to the men and women who let their lights shine both locally and globally.

Am I a soldier of the cross,
A follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His Name?

    OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
I want to echo the appreciation for the many servants of Jesus that I know. Like Paul, I have seen with appreciation the selfless service of many for the Lord, and towards me. Its true, some people can cause stress (think of those Paul mentions earlier in ch.1), but we should not let them distract us. Even then we can rejoice, for the Lord is at work in and through and despite us. No doubt we are a “thorn in the flesh” to some Christ-followers, and a blessing to others. Instead of grumbling and complaining about what isn’t happening, lets rejoice for all the good things, good examples, shining lights that we can see.

I need to spend more time verbally expressing my appreciation to all the servants of the Lord that I have the benefit of knowing.

    PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the work You are doing in me and through me, as well as in those around me. Thank You for the blessing of Your many servants! Amen.
