Feb 16 — Isaiah 43:14-28

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 43:14-28

OBSERVATION:
God reminds His people about how He rescued them from Egypt, that He can still do it, but then wonders why they are not seeking Him, honouring Him, trusting in Him.
God is at work, but His people are not seeing it – a new thing they’re blind to because they’re not paying attention.
Expresses God’s frustration that the people He saved to honour Him are not doing so, they’re living as if He didn’t care, and cannot help.

APPLICATION:
Is God frustrated with me, am I also ignoring Him, going against Him?
I too need to be reminded how God has helped me in the past, how He has rescued me from my stupid mistakes, led me through tricky situations.
How soon I forget about how much You have forgiven me, how merciful You have been to me.

PRAYER:
Lord, You have saved me from myself and my stupid choices so many times. Forgive me for testing Your patience with still more stupid choices. Thank You for Your amazing patience and love. Amen.

  1. This pasage reminds me once again of the Lord’s faithfulness and my own unfaithfulness. As He did many great acts for His people Israel, He has also done great and mighty deeds in my life. But do I have the eyes to see Him? Or the ears to hear Him? As the creation daily proclaims His faithfulness, so I too need to proclaim His goodness.
How diligently do I seek the face of the Lord? Have I ‘wearied’ myself in my efforts to seek Your face? Yet, it is You who I have tired by my sins which You mercifully forgive each day anew. It is You who remembers my sins no more. Here I stand by the grace of God in Whom I have life and life eternal. Once again the Lord speaks to me with His power and love through music with the words of the song

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my father!
    There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not:
As thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

    Great is Thy faithfulness,
    Great is Thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

So I enter a new day with the words of this song in my heart. Starting the day in His presence is the only way to start the day:-)
