Is my home open for Jesus?

Posted on August 17, 2017August 24, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 14:12-16
“Say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room.” (Mark 14:14)
There is much we don’t know from this story.
How did Jesus know about the servant coming for water for his master’s house?
Who was this homeowner who knew Jesus as ‘the Teacher’?
Was this prearranged by Jesus, or did God reveal this to Jesus through prayer?
Whoever this man is, he is ready for Jesus, he welcomes Jesus into his home.
This indicates an openness to Jesus, a positive response to His ministry.
Somehow he knew about ‘the Teacher’, and he was eager to receive Jesus.
I find myself wondering, am I prepared devote my home for Jesus use?
Jesus used this man’s room to display His grace to the disciples, and the world.
Jesus wants to us in the same way, to share His grace with the world.
My home, my vehicle, my cottage, my lawn-mover – all can be used by Jesus.
Any time today, Jesus can ask me through someone else to help somehow.
What we we saw opportunities to serve or help as Jesus encounters?
I sense Him asking, ‘what will you offer me to share my grace with others?’
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, as we settle into our new home, I offer it to You as a house of blessing for all people. May all who come through our doors meet You, and be blessed by Your grace!

The two disciples were sent – they obeyed willingly. The owner of the house was also Spirit lead since he willingly let them use his place for the meal which celebrated the freeing of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
I too need to open my ‘house’ to be of service to Jesus my Lord. It is He Who frees me from the bondage of sin, from my slavery. And His ways I do not understand as in this reading but as the disciples and the owner of the house, I must go forward in His Way.

I AM WEAK AND I NEED THY STRENGTH AND POWER
TO HELP ME O-VER MY WEAKEST HOUR
LEAD ME THROUGH THE DARKNESS THY FACE TO SEE
LEAD ME OH LORD LEAD ME

    CHORUS
LEAD ME, GUIDE ME, ALONG THE WAY
FOR IF YOU LEAD ME I CANNOT NOT STRAY
LORD LET ME WALK, EACH DAY WITH THEE
LEAD ME OH LORD LEAD ME

    Chorus
Lead me, guide me along the way,
For if you lead me I cannot stray.
Lord let me walk each day with Thee.
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

    VERSE 2:
Help me tread in the paths of righteousness.
Be my aid when Satan and sin oppress.
I am putting all my trust in Thee:
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.

think about it!

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.
