The desire to hear His voice!

Posted on May 19, 2017May 18, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: 1 Kings 17-19
“And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” (1 Kings 19:12)
In these chapters we see dramatic signs of God’s power.
Yet the signs are still not enough to convince Elijah.
Similarly, Jesus performed great miracles, but people still doubted Him.
It was only in hearing God’s Voice through Him that some believed.
In everything that happens, big and small, the Voice of God is whispering.
Hearing God, being with God, knowing God — this is the goal.
Many Christians still clamour for signs, when God wants to give us Himself.
But God is not in the fire, nor the healing, nor the multiplied loaves, etc.
God is in you, He is whispering His love and wisdom into your heart.
Jesus is God in a body, drawing near so that we might know Him.
He is still calling gently, with a ‘still small voice’, calling you to come.
Listen with your heart, listen to your heart, eagerly desire to hear Him.
Feel, sense, and hear His assurance, ‘You are not alone, I am with you!’
Stop seeking miracles, seek to know God and Jesus — this is the true joy of LIFE!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, Elijah saw many miracles, but it was knowing You and hearing Your voice that ultimately satisfied Him. May I hear Your gentle whisper again today, its what my heart truly desires.

The Word of the Lord came to Elijah and he did what the Lord told him.
Being in tune with God. Hearing His Word speak.
    Listening.
    Hearing.
    His Way.
    Being receptive.
    Talking with God.
I am reminded once again of the words in Isaiah, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
As the world continues to ‘turn the radio on’ walking with their own tunes, I must strive each day anew to be in tune with my God who is my Redeemer and King. Him I must serve this day He has made. And as His servant, I must listen to His instructions, living a life in His Kingdom, serving Him.
So again this morning I must dress myself with His armour so that I can be in tune with Voice doing His will in all of my life.

Living for Jesus a life that is true,
    Striving to please Him in all that I do;
    Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.
    O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
    I give myself to Thee,
    For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
    Didst give Thyself for me;
    I own no other Master,
My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live,
    O Christ, for Thee alone.

think about it!

There are those who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge; That is curiosity. There are those who seek knowledge to be known by others; That is vanity. There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; That is love.
