God’s precious child!

Posted on April 3, 2017May 31, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 1:9-13
“You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Mark 1:11)
As a follower of Jesus, this is something that God says to me too.
“To those who believed he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
The Spirit of Jesus assures us we are God’s much loved children (Romans 8:16).
This is not because I am so great, but because Jesus is so great.
Jesus becomes a son of Adam to reclaim Adam’s position as God’s child (Luke 3:38).
Satan attacks Jesus, like he did Adam (and all humanity), but this time Satan loses.
For the first time in history, a son of Adam behaves like a true son of God.
Now finally, the kingdom God spoke of in Genesis 1:26-28 is fulfilled.
Through Jesus, a God-like human is once again in charge, and Satan has lost.
By trusting in Jesus, the son that pleases God, we share in this new reality.
Satan is beaten, Jesus is in charge, and we rule with Him as His family.
Satan can’t beat us because he can’t beat Jesus!
God sees us with Jesus, our sin is washed away and His righteousness is ours.
God says to me, ‘you are my child whom I love, with you I am well pleased!’
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I love You because You first loved me. Thank You for beating sin and Satan for me, and restoring me to be God’s child.

    His baptism showed submission to His mission.
    Here we also have the Three in One together once again – God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit.
    The Father was pleased with Him. A living example on how to live – the suffering servant.
    I too can have that Spirit within me and be His servant being His Light to all those around me – being an instrument of His peace.
    Spirit of the living God, dwell within my heart that I may radiate the joy of the Lord to all those around me.

    1. Spirit of God, dwell thou within my heart;
    Wean it from earth, through all its pulses move;
    Stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou art,
    And make me love thee as I ought to love.

    2. I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
    No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
    No angel visitant, no opening skies;
    But take the dimness of my soul away.

    3. Didst thou not bid us love thee, God and king?
    All, all thine own: soul, heart, and strength, and mind.
    I see the cross–there teach my heart to cling;
    O let me seek thee and O let me find!

    4. Teach me to feel that thou art always nigh;
    Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear;
    To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
    Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

    5. Teach me to love thee as thine angels love,
    One holy passion filling all my frame–
    The baptism of the heaven-descended dove;
    My heart an altar, and thy love the flame.

think about it!

The book to read is not the one which thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that.
