Liar liar!

Posted on October 19, 2015October 19, 2015 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 5:1-10
“‘My name is Legion,’ he replied, ‘for we are many.'” (Mark 5:9)
A spirit is a body-less personality, a spiritual presence without form.
Good spirits are messengers from God, voices of truth and hope.
Evil spirits are messengers from Satan, voices of deception and despair.
They are ONLY messengers, they have NO POWER except their words.
But words are powerful; if truth or lies are believed they can change lives.
This impure spirit boasts, ‘my name is Legion’, and we believe it… but why should we?
We need to pay attention to the thoughts or words that cross our minds.
Are they messages of truth or deception, of light or darkness, of hope or despair?
NOT every thought we have is good, or from God.
** ‘I won’t get caught…’
** ‘Nobody cares about me…’
** ‘I can handle this by myself…’
** ‘Nobody can tell me what to do…’
** ‘The world would be better off without me…’
** ‘God could never forgive me…’

This man’s life was ruined by such lies, until he came to Jesus.
Bring your thoughts to Jesus, submit them to Him (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Test your thoughts, to see whether they are from God (1 John 4:1).
Expose the lies in your head to the truth, for it will set you free (John 8:32).
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, even as I write this, a deceiving thought (one of those listed above) is coming into my mind. I renounce this lie as false, and I affirm again that only You have the right to direct my mind and life.

I have at least four out of these “lies” you listed coming to mind. It makes me feel like a messed up Christian because I know I shouldn’t have these thoughts enter my head because I know its just from the deciever. I know the deceiver will do anything to ensure a seed doesn’t prosper and grow and be fed by the light of Jesus.

So why is it then that it is much easier to believe the lies then the truth when we know the truth will set us free? Hmmm I’m going to try and look into the truth and remember I’m a child of God.

    Observations/Application
Living among the dead reminds me that all who are without Christ are like dead men walking around. To be alive this day is to live for Jesus. Many(legions) are dead because they live for themselves and serve themselves or their master – satan and that binds them – and those cords can’t be broken – – – unless Jesus comes along. Legion ran to Jesus and kneeled before the King of kings.
God can make anyone free from their fetters if we/I just come to Him.

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands

For it’s only in Your will that I am free
For it’s only in Your will that I am free

think about it!

I’d do it differently if I had another chance. I’d make a positive and sustained attempt to use judicious praise rather than find fault, to warmly accept rather than critique. Most of the people I know up close need a break.
