Life starts now!

Posted on February 12, 2015February 12, 2015 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 17:1-5
“Now this is eternal life…” (John 17:1)
Many Christians think eternal life is our future, neverending life in heaven.
But the phrase ‘life of the ages’ refers more to the life we were made for.
It is similar to Jesus’ expression ‘life to the full’ (John 10:10).
It is also how John interprets the words ‘kingdom of God’.
We are born again into the life we were made for (life in God’s kingdom) (John 3:3,5).
This life is not just biological permanence, nor is it floating in clouds like angels forever.
It comes to this: “that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:1)
If you are reconnected to God through Jesus, you are in God’s kingdom, you are experiencing eternal life.
This is not to say it won’t improve, or that our experience now is all there is to it.
Life in this world is not what it should be – yet – but knowing Jesus and God is where it begins.
Yes, we must still pass through physical death, but that is a doorway, not a dead end.
With God as our foundation, Jesus as our leader, and the Spirit as our strength, life begins NOW.
Together we start doing now what Adam and Eve were called to do: lead and care for God’s world.
Eternal life – life to the full, the kingdom of God – begins now!
And like the wine at the wedding feast, the best is yet to come (John 2:1-10)!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, knowing You, there is no greater thing. You’re my all, You’re the best, You’re my joy, my righteousness.
And I love You, Lord.

    Observation/Application
    Talk to the Father.
    Glorify Him.
Know that He is God and Life is a possibility – reality – only through Him. Talk with Him as Adam did.
    As Jesus dis.
Walk with Him as Adam did.
    As Jesus did.
Doing the work God created Adam to do brought glory to God.
Doing the work God sent Jesus to do brought glory to God.
    And I?
I too must do the work I was sent to do to bring glory to God
    and
that is only a possibility through Jesus Christ.
    His reign is now
    and
    my work is now
Glorifying God in all I do
    today and always.

    Father, we love You
    We worship and adore You
Glorify Thy Name in all the earth

    Chorus:
    Glorify Thy Name
    Glorify Thy Name
Glorify Thy Name in all the earth

    Verse 2:
    Jesus, we love You
    We worship and adore You
Glorify Thy Name in all the earth

    Verse 3:
    Spirit, we love You
    We worship and adore You
Glorify Thy Name in all the earth
