The King of kings

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 110
God (the LORD, YHWH, the holy name for God) says to David’s master (Lord, Adonai).
Who is David’s master?
Jesus says that he was referring to the coming Messiah (Matthew 22:41-46).
God’s OT people were long awaiting God’s ultimate Ruler (Genesis 49:10).
David knows that he is just a king; but the coming King will be a priest as well.
Like Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18), the perfect representative of God on earth (Hebrews 5:1-10).
But the important thing to remember is that this was supposed to be Adam’s role.
The throne rightfully belongs to Adam (humanity), but we surrendered it to evil.
The reason we need a new king is because the presents rulers are doing such a poor job.
We have ruined God’s kingdom into a dominion of darkness, serving Satan rather than God.
David is a ruler, but he also knows he is a poor comparison to the ideal ruler.
The same is true for us; we need Jesus as our pattern, as our Master, our Lord.
As we live and work with Him by faith, we are being restored to our role rulers and priests.
“You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:10)
We are kings, but He is the King of kings; we are priests, but He is the Priest of priest.
Will we submit to, and work with, God’s Ultimate Ruler?

PRAYER
Lord, You are who we’re supposed to be – God’s faithful, loyal rulers and priests on earth. Thank You for helping me reclaim my identity and calling. Help me to live like it!
