Come to ME, says Jesus!

Posted on October 30, 2014October 30, 2014 by Norm

SCRIPTURE: John 5:1-15
The Bethesda pool was known for having healing waters.
Sometimes, when an angel is said to have stirred the waters.
People desperate for healing waited here – some a long time – to be healed.
Jesus does not heal everyone, but He does heal this man.
As a sign, to encourage people to trust in Him, and not in a pool.
Trusting in God’s messiah is not a guarantee for immediate healing.
But heeding the messiah’s message (turn from sin, turn towards God) will lead us to a better future.
A future that will one day include healing, health, wholeness, happiness… LIFE!
We were made for health not disease, for hope not despair, for joy not sorrow.
For peace not dissension, for freedom not bondage, for LIFE not death!
Our problems are the consequence of something deeper, our sin.
The messiah doesn’t come to fix our problems, but to save us from something worse.
What are you looking to for help… a pool, a bottle, money, sex, power.
Look to Jesus, listen to Jesus, and He will take us where we need to go!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to see that You are the way to find what my soul is really looking for. Help me to stop trusting in empty pools, and instead step into You.

    Observation/Application
    Jesus knows.
Jesus knew how long the man had the sickness. Who doesn’t want to get well? But the man did not ask. He just said that he had none to help him. Christ healed Him and it was the Sabbath. That flabbergasted the religious leaders who were a rule unto themselves. The man did not realize that it was Jesus who healed him but told him how to live.
And I also needed healing and Jesus continues to lead and guide me for today and all my tomorrows. I can not live for today, but I must keep my eyes turned toward home, to live with Him forever. It is Jesus Who made me well and the day and always I must live for Him. PTL!

I love You Lord, and I lift my voice
    To worship You!
    O my soul, rejoice!

    Take joy, my King
    In what You hear
May it be a sweet, sweet sound
    In Your ears

    Singing hallelujah, hallelujah
And praise, and worship to Your name

think about it!

What does God ask of us? Not that we should be stronger than we are, but that we should confess our weakness and accept His strength.
